The Ins and Outs of Hosted Application Security

More and more small businesses are offloading their e-mail, chat, and shared documents to hosted application services, like Google Apps, instead of using traditional office applications. At the same time, many are hesitant to do so for security reasons. After all, housing potentially sensitive data on a remote server outside of your control must be less secure than storing it locally, right? Although this may be your first intuition, it is not so one-sided.
